Skin Deep (1989)... Brenda appears in this comedy directed by Blake Edwards and starring John Ritter, but she had her name taken off the credits. Here is what she has to say (from a recent email I received):

"One of the reasons I took my name off of Skin Deep had to do with a violation of trust beween myself and the director, Blake Edwards. To make a long story short, I had agreed to do the part based on three great scenes with John Ritter. I think it ended up being one short one and a love scene. Needless to say he shot more of the love scene than he had promised, I got upset, and in the end a body double did all the nudity that looks like me. I took my name off the film for principle simply because I didn't want people to think I had done such a nothing (after editing) role, and did the nudity anyway."

Television

                                                                                AS SERIES REGULAR

Desperate Housewives ... This series created by  Marc Cherry (forner writer for The Golden Girls) has been described as a cross between Knots Landing and American Beauty. Brenda narrates each episode as Mary Alice Young, a seemingly perfect suburban housewife who, for no apparent reason, kills herself in the pilot episode. Brenda will also make occasional flashback appearences (noted by title in italics.) Others in the cast include Teri Hatcher (Lois and Clark), Felicity Huffman (Sports Night), Marcia Cross (Melrose Place), Eva Longoria (The Young and the Restless), and Nicolette Sheridan (Knots Landing).

The Help ......  Brenda starred as Arlene Ridgeway in this WB sitcom from creator Ron Leavitt (co-creator of Married With Children.) The best way to describe the show is as Upstairs/Downstairs filtered through Married with Children's sensibility. Others in the cast include Camille Guaty, Antonio Sabato Jr., Mindy Cohn, Kerri Lynn Pratt, Tori Spelling and David Faustino.

    "Pilot" (3/5/04)
    "Dwayne Gets A Cold" (3/12/04)

Scorch - This short lived CBS sitcom was the first instance of Brenda being a week-in, week-out, credited regular on a series (as opposed to a recurring guest role, ala Seinfeld and Sports Night.) Here's what Tim Brooks and Earle Marsh's Complete Directory to Primetime Network and Cable TV Shows has to say:

"Brian Stevens (Jonathan Walker) was a single parent and struggling actor in New Haven, CT, whose world was turned upside down when Scorch entered his life. Scorch, a 1300-year-old dragon with an attitude, had recently awakened from a long sleep to find that he seemed to be the only one of his kind alive, at least in New Haven. He flew into the window of Brian's apartment and immediately endeared himself to Brian's daughter, Jessica (Rhea Silver-Smith), but not to her father. When Brian took him along in a tote bag (don't ask why) to a job interview as weatherman on WWEN-TV's News at Noon, Scorch popped out of the bag and convinced station manager Jack Fletcher (Todd Susman) that he was Brian's ventriloquist dummy. Fletcher thought the "ventriloquist" and his talking miniature dragon made a cute team and hired them for the job. Others working at the station were Howard (John O'Hurley), the stuffy news anchorman; Allison (Brenda), the sexy coanchor; and Robin (Lauren Katz) who worked on the production team. Edna Bracken (Rose Marie), was convinced he was hiding a pet in his apartment and kept barging in trying to find it.

The viewing audience apparently didn't find this fantasy to their liking, and neither did the programming executives at CBS. They yanked it from the schedule after only three episodes had aired."

It should be noted that an episode guide I found for the series shows six eps aired-I've listed them all here.
