Why Brenda?

Why indeed, you may ask?

Well, here's why...

We were both music students at Arizona State University in the early eighties.( She earned a music theater degree, I studied percussion. ) I have very vivid memories of seeing her in a theater production, "Bloody Bess", an old pirate melodrama, in which Brenda was incredibly commanding. I also remember hearing her sing on several occasions (check out the 3rd Rock clips in Multimedia for examples of her singing). We even had a summer class together (Music history since 1900, if I recall correctly) although we were not friends in any sense.

Some years on, while I was living in upstate NY, I was perusing that week's TV Guide, which had a cover story on Kenny Rogers' latest "Gambler" movie. Normally I wouldn't have cared a bit about such a project; however, in amongst the photos was one of Brenda, in her role as a frontier "Madame" so to speak. Soon afterward I saw her in Mel Brooks "Spaceballs" as well as TV shows like Cheers or Sonny Spoons (a short-lived private eye series with Mario Van Peebles) and that started it all.

When I finally got on the web, I was amazed at some of the sites I saw that were devoted to performers of (in my humble opinion ) far less talent and charisma. I searched high and low, but could not find any page devoted to Brenda.

Taking to heart the old maxim "if you want something done right, do it yourself", I figured it was my job to rectify the situation- hence this page.

And while I call this an "unofficial" page (that is, all responsibility for content, including errors, is my own), I am happy to say that Brenda herself is aware of this page, and is quite pleased with it (if you don't mind me tooting my own horn a bit!)
